Ascencion Malbec Reserve 2010
The Ascension has released a new variety of wine, Ascencion Malbec Reserve 2010 a wine that will surely win it awards and applause in the years to come. This is an addition to the award winning Malbec reserves. It comes from a line of award winning Argentinean wines and each of the wine was on a higher pedestal than the one before it. So you can imagine if it comes from the line of wines that have already won awards, what heavenly taste this particular vine would possess. The vintage that came before it won the gold medal at the prestigious 2011 Decanter World Wine awards.
This precious wine comes from the superstar wine maker named Francisco Puga. It has been manufactured in one of the high altitude vineyards where there is no shortage of sunshine and the melting water from the snow capped Andes is available for irrigation. All of these amazing pure features help provide the most suitable setting for some of the ripest grapes you will ever get to lay your eyes on.
In order to make the Ascencion Malbec Reserve 2010 come to life, the fruit for the wine was hand harvested. The extra care and love are evident when one sips the wine. The hand harvested grapes are harvested in a vineyard that is almost thirty five years old on the Francisco’s island that is also more commonly known as the San Isidro vineyard. Then the juice is made to age for almost a year in French and American oak. Soaking in oak infuses in them two very distinct and unique tastes. One of them is the slightest tinge of spice while the second is the warm vanilla flavour. To infuse a mint flavour in the wine, the Cabernet Franc is added into the juice and then to infuse a touch of mineral flavours the Tannat is added to it.
Composition of the wine
It is completely dark as it is a full bodied red wine. Pour the Ascencion Malbec Reserve 2010 in a glass and you will have a hard time trying to find the bottom of the glass when the glass is full to the brim. When you take a sip of this wine you will feel blackberry, blue currant and blueberry lacing your taste buds along with slight taste of spice, warm oaks and violets. Leave the bottle open for almost an hour before you chill it or serve it; this will ensure that all the flavours truly do jump out of their skins.
